We’re all different, but one thing is the same – we all have a passion for helping those in our communities.
OUR PROGRAM LEADS + SUPPORT TEAM
We definitely wouldn’t be anywhere if we didn’t have the support of program leaders, volunteers and coordinators as our wonderful support team.

SPECIAL GUEST STARS
Below is just a sampling of the many people who guest star at our programming, showcasing their talents, and encouraging participants to believe in what they want to achieve.
ISABEL RODRIGUEZ | FOUNDER + PRESIDENT
I realized early on that my purpose in life was one of healing and contribution and I have since been on this path of self-discovery and empowerment. Being someone who was already vocal about my beliefs, an active volunteer with children, a Big Sister for Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Toronto, and a student of fashion design – I realized that I was waiting to be inspired to take further action. I recognized that just waiting for that to happen was just plain crazy. So I chose.
I chose to take on an “I can now” attitude and a whole new world opened up to me: my team, events, an unwavering amount of support, and endless opportunities. To me, children are our most precious assets in this world; they are our future, they are love and innocence at its finest, and amazing little individuals who remind of us of how we used to be.
So it is for them – your children, my children, and their children’s children that I have chosen to embark on this journey and express my vision courageously.
Who I am for them, is someone committed to powerfully take a stand; to be their voice, to be a helping hand. Who I am for those around me, is someone who will make you giggle and smile, someone you can tell anything to, and someone who will be there, in your corner, pushing you forward to your own greatness.
Who I am for the world, is a creative visionary, an optimist, a space of possibility and someone willing to be unstoppable in the face of the seemingly impossible. I am honoured to say that Scribble Me Silly is a complete expression of who I am!
And so, I know that when I look back on my life, I will be certain that I was fully self-expressed, that I took actions consistent with my beliefs, and then had those actions manifested in reality. With this, I will close my eyes happily at the end of my days.
I am humbled and rendered speechless daily, to know that we are leaving this little imprint on the world…. Each of us has a unique gift to offer and this is mine. 🙂
In love and gratitude.
JOANNA KELLAM | VICE-PRESIDENT + DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMING
I was so excited when Scribble Me Silly approached me to be a member of their team. The gift of childhood is something everyone deserves to enjoy, and Scribble Me Silly is a perfect outlet for me to share that joy with others—and it’s a great excuse to let my naturally silly personality out.
It has been easy work collaborating with the SMS team to create programs that are imaginative and packed with substance. I am committed to sharing my knowledge, my passions, and my smile with all of the children and volunteers that SMS works with. It is a wonderful thing to know you have a voice and that it is being heard. Theatre, music and visual arts are all extraordinary tools in the journey of finding your own unique voice, and I am so happy to introduce and share them with others. Through this kind of self-expression, however silly it is, children can grow as individuals, have fun and let their voice shine!
DEVON MACDONALD | EVENT + VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn and we are lead to those who help us most to grow if we let them, and they help us in return.
A line from my favorite musical sums up everything I feel about Scribble Me Silly, yes the world is really that simple. Purpose, I’ve been looking for one for as long as I can remember, then I found it! I discovered the joy in helping others and I haven’t looked back.
I want to make everyone’s dream for themselves possible and in doing so I believe mine will come true. I want to help people be their BEST silly self and live a life full of wonder and most importantly possibility. Every man, woman and child has a dream for themselves and if I can aid in making that dream a reality what more can I ask for?
LAURA VAUGHAN | TREASURER
From the first day I volunteered with Scribble Me Silly I was overjoyed to be a part of something that had such meaning and provided a creative outlet to not only children but their families as well. Growing up, the opportunity to be creative was provided to me in many forms including dance, music and evenings out at the theater to name a few and I believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience these aspects of life regardless of their circumstance. As one the youngest in my extended family, to have the opportunity to act in a ‘big sister’ and mentor type role I was surprised at not only what I was able to offer but also what the experience had to offer in return.
My goal is not only to have the opportunity to give back and make others smile but to help others take what they have learned and pay it forward by inspiring those that have touched their lives. Everyone deserves laughter and joy in their life and above all everyone deserves the opportunity to be creative and inspired. Coming from a strong business background I am excited to mold what I’ve learned over the years into this new opportunity

SOPHIE LAFLEUR | DIRECTOR
I feel incredibly lucky to be able to connect my love of children, art, social justice, and business transformation to give back to my community through Scribble Me Silly. I’m thrilled to be part of an amazing team dedicated to inspiring creativity and confidence, and bringing laughter and light to children who have suffered unimaginable hardships.
I learned of Scribble Me Silly a few years ago and immediately wanted to become a volunteer. I have seen firsthand how SMS leaders, volunteers, and artists truly make a difference by providing a safe and silly space for children to express who they are. It’s empowering, it’s meaningful and it’s magical.
I’m honoured to serve on the SMS Board, and I’m excited to help enable the organization’s continued growth in this role.
